PD-Proxy KnowledgeBase

The knowledgebase is organized into different categories. Either choose a category below or search the knowledgebase for the answer to your question.

How-to

  1. Download the installer from the link in your welcome e-mail (see Download).
  2. Run PD-Proxy-Setup.exe and accept the network adapter driver prompt.
  3. Log in, choose a server and press Connect.

Open the server list, filter by country or type (Streaming, Gaming, P2P) and double-click a location. Premium users can switch as often as they like; the app disconnects and reconnects in a couple of seconds.

Go to Settings › Connection › Kill switch and turn it on. If the tunnel drops, all internet traffic is blocked until PD-Proxy reconnects, so your real IP never leaks.

Open Settings › Wi-Fi Protection, enable Auto-connect on untrusted networks and mark your home network as trusted. See Wi-Fi Protection.

Run a speed test without the VPN, then connect to a nearby server and test again against the same test server. Repeat three times and compare averages. Details in How to make your VPN faster.

Troubleshooting

Check that your account is activated (click the link in the e-mail), that Caps Lock is off, and that you are using your username, not your e-mail. Reset your password from the app if needed.

  • Switch protocol to OpenVPN TCP or Stealth.
  • Disable other VPN or proxy software.
  • Flush DNS: ipconfig /flushdns (Windows) or restart the device.
  • Try another server location.

Reinstall PD-Proxy as administrator. On Windows, open Device Manager › Network adapters and remove old TAP/WireGuard adapters left by other VPNs, then reinstall.

Enable Stealth mode (TCP 443). It wraps the VPN in traffic that looks like ordinary HTTPS and passes through most firewalls, captive networks and filters.

Enable Settings › Advanced › Debug mode, reproduce the problem, then click Export log and attach the file to an e-mail to [email protected]. Logs contain no browsing data.

Gaming

Choose servers marked Gaming closest to the game's server region, and use WireGuard for the lowest latency. See Streaming & Gaming.

Gaming servers support UDP and open NAT for most titles. Make sure you use WireGuard or OpenVPN UDP; TCP and Stealth modes add latency and may cause strict NAT.

Information

WireGuard for speed, OpenVPN UDP for compatibility, OpenVPN TCP or Stealth for restrictive networks, IKEv2 for mobile roaming. Read VPN protocols explained.

Free: 1 device. Premium: up to 5 devices at the same time. Business VPN seats are per user.

Maintenance is rolling and announced on the blog; the load balancer moves you to another server automatically.

Linux

pdproxy login
pdproxy connect --country de --protocol wireguard
pdproxy status
pdproxy disconnect

The client configures systemd-resolved to use PD-Proxy DNS on the tunnel interface. If you manage DNS manually, set the VPN interface as the default route for DNS: resolvectl domain pdproxy0 '~.'.
