Overview
Streaming and online gaming put very different demands on a connection. Video needs sustained bandwidth for minutes or hours at a time; games need small packets delivered quickly and consistently, where a few extra milliseconds of delay can decide a round. PD-Proxy streaming and gaming servers are a dedicated group of servers set up with both in mind.
Unlike the general-purpose servers that carry everyday browsing, these servers are selected for their network routes and kept for high-bandwidth and latency-sensitive traffic. That helps reduce congestion at busy times. They also give you the privacy benefits of the rest of the PD-Proxy network: your traffic is encrypted, your real IP address is hidden from other players and services, and we never log what you watch or play.
Streaming and gaming servers are part of Premium. High-bandwidth categories are restricted on free servers, so if you want to watch or play through PD-Proxy, Premium is the plan to choose.

Choosing a server
For gaming, latency comes from distance. The ideal server sits between you and the game server, or close to either end. If you live in Europe and play on European game servers, pick a gaming server in or near your own country. Connecting to a server on another continent adds real distance that no network optimisation can remove. Try two or three nearby options and keep the one with the lowest, most stable ping in your game's network statistics.
For streaming, bandwidth matters more than ping. Choose a streaming server near your current location for the best throughput. If playback buffers, switch to another server; Premium allows unlimited server switches. Use cases
- Competitive online gaming. Keep your home IP private from other players and reduce the risk of being knocked offline by a DDoS attack in the middle of a match.
- Streaming at home. Some networks throttle video traffic. Because your traffic is encrypted, your provider cannot single out streaming for slower treatment in the same way.
- Streaming while travelling. Stay connected to the subscriptions you already pay for with a secure connection on hotel and airport Wi-Fi.
- Game downloads and updates. Unlimited bandwidth means large patches do not eat into a data allowance.

Frequently asked questions
Usually a VPN adds a little latency, because traffic takes an extra hop. In some cases, where your provider routes traffic inefficiently, a well-connected server can produce an equal or better route. The best way to know is to test a few nearby gaming servers.
A DDoS attack targets a specific IP address. While you are connected, other players only see the address of the PD-Proxy server, so your home connection is not directly exposed. Our infrastructure is designed to absorb and filter abusive traffic.
WireGuard in most cases. Use OpenVPN UDP as an alternative, and switch to Stealth mode only if your network blocks standard VPN traffic, as it adds more overhead. See VPN protocols explained.
Our apps run on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. Router configuration is not supported on individual plans, so consoles and TVs without a PD-Proxy app cannot connect directly.
