Wi-Fi Protection
Join any hotspot without a second thought. PD-Proxy switches the VPN on automatically when you connect to a network you do not trust.
Overview
Public Wi-Fi is convenient, but it is also one of the easiest places for your data to be observed. On an open or shared network, other users, a misconfigured router or a fake hotspot with a familiar name can all see or tamper with traffic that is not properly protected. Wi-Fi Protection closes that gap by making sure the VPN is running before your apps start talking to the internet.
The biggest risk with public Wi-Fi is not a lack of tools; it is forgetting to use them. You open your laptop at the airport, the e-mail client syncs, a messaging app reconnects, and only then do you remember the VPN. Wi-Fi Protection removes that human step. The PD-Proxy app watches for network changes and, when you join a network that is not on your trusted list, it connects to a secure server straight away.
Wi-Fi Protection is part of the PD-Proxy apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS. It is included in full with Premium, and Free plan users get basic protection so they can try it at no cost.
Key features
Auto-connect
The VPN connects automatically whenever your device joins an untrusted Wi-Fi network, before you have to think about it.
Trusted networks
Mark your home or office network as trusted and the app stays out of the way there, while everything else is treated as untrusted.
Kill switch
If the tunnel drops while you are on public Wi-Fi, traffic is blocked until the connection is restored, so nothing leaks unencrypted.
Captive portal handling
Hotel and airport login pages are detected, so you can accept the terms first. The VPN then connects as soon as the network is online.
Private DNS
DNS requests travel inside the tunnel to PD-Proxy resolvers, so the hotspot cannot see or redirect the domains you look up.
Stealth mode
Some guest networks block VPN protocols. Stealth mode on TCP port 443 helps you connect where standard protocols are filtered.
How it works
Install the app
Download PD-Proxy for your device and sign in with your account.
Turn on Wi-Fi Protection
Enable auto-connect in the app settings and switch on the kill switch.
Add trusted networks
Add the networks you control, such as your home Wi-Fi, to the trusted list.
Go anywhere
Join any other network and the VPN connects on its own, even after a captive portal login.

Where it helps
- Airports and train stations. Busy terminals are a favourite place for look-alike hotspots. With auto-connect, you are protected from the moment your device joins.
- Hotels. Guest networks are often shared by hundreds of rooms. Captive portal handling lets you log in, then encrypts everything that follows.
- Cafes and co-working spaces. Password-protected Wi-Fi still shares the same key with every customer, so other users on the network are not strangers to your traffic.
- Phones on the move. Mobile devices hop between Wi-Fi networks without asking. Wi-Fi Protection follows each change so you do not have to.
- Laptops for work. Keep business e-mail and cloud documents off the local network when you work away from the office.

Frequently asked questions
Any Wi-Fi network that is not on your trusted list. By default that means every network, so you are protected until you choose to trust a specific one such as your home Wi-Fi.
Captive portals need to load before internet access is granted, and a VPN cannot connect until then. Premium's captive portal handling waits for you to complete the login page, then connects automatically. If a portal still misbehaves, pause protection briefly, log in and reconnect.
Only while the VPN is disconnected on an untrusted network. As soon as the tunnel is back, traffic flows normally. On trusted networks, or when you disconnect on purpose, the kill switch does not interfere.
Wi-Fi Protection is designed for Wi-Fi networks, but you can connect manually on mobile data at any time. Many users simply leave the VPN on all day.
